Bantam & Biddy, the popular Ansley Mall neighborhood restaurant known for its Southern comfort dishes, community-friendly atmosphere and locally driven approach, will host a special book signing and conversation with author and preservationist Gene Kansas. The event celebrates the release of Civil Sights, Kansas’s new guide to the people, places and powerful stories of Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn Historic District, birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the modern Civil Rights Movement.
Guests are invited to enjoy Bantam & Biddy’s signature hospitality while meeting Kansas, whose work blends historic preservation, adaptive reuse and storytelling to connect people more deeply with the city around them. Through Civil Sights, he aims to spark curiosity and inspire action to conserve and protect Atlanta’s civil rights legacy. Kansas will greet attendees, sign copies of the book and share insights about the cultural, architectural and community landmarks featured throughout Sweet Auburn.
This event offers a meaningful opportunity for Atlantans to experience a favorite local restaurant while engaging with an author whose work champions the city’s history and future.
