Goldbergs Group Partners with Second Helpings Atlanta to Provide Healthy Breakfasts for Students

Goldbergs Group, a beloved local restaurant group for more than 50 years, has partnered with Second Helpings Atlanta (SHA), a small-but-mighty food rescue organization, to ensure that nearly 9,000 students can enjoy a healthy breakfast during winter break. Thanks to the generous donation of over six pallets of waffles and waffle sandwiches (retail value over $40k) by Goldbergs Group and their partner Evergreen Waffles, SHA will be able to distribute these nutritious meals to 50-60 schools through their partner agency, Communities in Schools (CIS).

The list of schools that received the waffles today through Communities in Schools includes:

  • John Lewis Invictus Academy

  • Phoenix Academy

  • South Atlanta High School

  • Haper - Archer Elementary School

  • Herman J. Russell West End Academy

  • Bunch Middle School

  • Stone Mountain Elementary School

  • Hamilton E. Holmes Elementary School

Goldbergs Group has been a long-standing supporter of SHA, having donated nearly 430,000 pounds of prepared food since 2009. Their commitment to fighting food insecurity was further demonstrated during the early days of the pandemic when they loaned their drivers and vans to SHA, enabling the continuation of food rescue operations. Together, Goldbergs Group and SHA have rescued over 230,000 pounds of food and provided 28,000 prepared meals valued at just over $500,000 by Feeding America.
