Consider Christmas in July at Mary Mac’s Tea Room
A Southern holiday feast evokes images of bubbling sweet potato casserole topped with golden brown marshmallows, slow-cooked collard greens in pot likker and tender roast turkey with cornbread dressing topped with made-from-scratch chicken gravy.
Even with sizzling summer temps in the upper 90s, it’s never too early to start planning holiday celebrations. Twelve months of the year, in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, the team at Mary Mac’s carefully handwashes the collard greens, snaps freshly picked green beans by hand and peels the sweet potatoes. Traditional, Southern cuisine has been at the heart of Mary Mac’s Tea Room for over 75 years.
Let Mary Mac’s bring down-home comfort to holiday celebrations with private dining or catering.
The private dining rooms can accommodate 20 to 200 guests, creating a tailored and tasty destination for meetings, lunch and learns, happy hours or special celebrations.
Mary Mac’s, with its fresh new look, remains one of the largest restaurants in Atlanta. The newly renovated dining rooms include upgraded décor, fresh paint and new carpet.
Holiday events can include traditional Southern specialties, such as their famous crispy, golden fried chicken, oven roasted turkey with dressing, meatloaf and fried catfish. There are more than 30 fresh vegetables and side dishes to choose from, including favorites like sweet potato soufflé, macaroni and cheese and their world-famous fried green tomatoes.
Mary Mac’s offers full bar service in addition to freshly brewed iced tea, but that’s not the only sweet treat. All the breads and desserts are homemade, including buttery yeast rolls, brown-sugar-kissed Georgia peach cobbler, scrumptious hand-cut cinnamon rolls and old-fashioned banana pudding topped with swoops of golden-brown meringue.
Mary Mac’s is more than dining, it’s an experience. Traditions are important at Mary Mac’s, and not many things have changed since 1945, down to the pencils and order forms at each table and the complimentary cup of pot likker and warm cornbread for first timers.
