Meals On Wheels Atlanta Welcomes New Board of Trustees Members
Meals On Wheels Atlanta (MOWA), the long-running organization that serves Atlanta’s seniors by delivering delicious, nutritious meals and providing services ranging from home repair to an emergency food pantry, is pleased to announce the appointment of ASRT, Inc. founder Michael Astwood, chef Kevin Gillespie, The PurposeWell Group founder and CEO Michelle Marshall and finance professional Alfredo Martin to its board of trustees.
“We’re very proud to welcome Michael, Kevin, Michelle and Alfredo to our board,” says MOWA CEO Charlene Crusoe-Ingram. “Their extensive backgrounds and wealth of knowledge across different fields of discipline will be invaluable assets to Meals On Wheels Atlanta as we celebrate our 60th year of providing for Atlanta’s underserved senior communities.”
Michael Astwood founded ASRT, Inc., which provides specialized expertise and science and technology-based solutions in health, science and medicine to federal, state and local governments. He previously served as chief operating officer for IHRC, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Science in microbiology and molecular biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in medical bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University.
Renowned chef, restaurateur, cookbook author and speaker Kevin Gillespie rose to prominence on the sixth season of Bravo’s “Top Chef” cooking competition, an experience that drew national and worldwide attention to his work at Woodfire Grill. Since then, Gillespie has opened MICHELIN Guide-recommended restaurants Gunshow and Nàdair. He was a 2022 finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Restaurateur award, a 2015 and 2017 semifinalist and 2016 finalist for the Foundation’s Best Chef: South award, and a three-time consecutive semifinalist for its Rising Star Chef of the Year award, among other honors.
Michelle Marshall is the founder and CEO of The PurposeWell Group, a consulting and impact strategy firm that designs purpose-driven programs, partnerships and experiences at the intersection of culture, equity and opportunity. A respected strategist and changemaker, she previously served as the head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social Impact for PUMA North America. Marshall brings deep expertise in corporate responsibility and social innovation to her role on the MOWA board.
Alfredo Martin is the executive director of The Columbia Foundation, which focuses on philanthropic efforts in the areas of children’s causes, education and the arts. He is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience and has worked with KPMG, Deloitte, Ford Motor Company, General Motors and The Financial Times. He currently serves on the board of directors of The Atlanta Opera, the Atlanta Chamber Players board and the advisory council of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, among other organizations.
