Register for Second Helpings Atlanta’s "Zero Waste Cooking Classes" Throughout April

Second Helpings Atlanta celebrates Earth Day each Sunday throughout the month of April, starting Sunday, April 11, with a virtual series of “Zero Waste Cooking Classes” to promote sustainability. Classes will be held at 5 p.m. and led by Chef and owner of Mercer Street Meals Lance Gummere, author of “Chez Marc’s Quarantine Cookbook” Marc Pollack, and “Southern Ground” author Jennifer Lapidus. Each class will feature recipes created with ingredients that otherwise might be thrown away, adding to a landfill.

The series is free; however, voluntary donations to support the members of the Metro Atlanta community facing food insecurity would be greatly appreciated. Recipes and shopping list will be emailed to registered attendees on the Thursday before each class.

Second Helpings Atlanta (SHA) is a non-profit food rescue organization whose mission is to reduce hunger and food waste in the metro Atlanta area by rescuing healthy, surplus food and delivering it to partner agencies who distribute it to those in need. With a community of more than 450 volunteers, SHA rescued 1.9 million pounds of food in 2020, equivalent to 1.6 millions nutritious meals, that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill.
